Custom drums, drum repairs, drum building workshops, & drum circle facilitation…
I have been playing with rhythms since early childhood, but at 17 I bought my first djembe and fell in love with traditional drums. It was more a whisper in the wind, a calling that drew me to traditional drums. Something in me told me to buy a drum, so for my birthday I gifted myself a beautiful hand carved djembe from 42 degrees in L5Ps. I instantly fell in love and would drum almost daily just for kicks, found my first rhythm and expanded my skill from there.
It’s been over 15 years since that first drum was purchased, and I’ve bought, repaired and built many since that late winter path that brought me to buy my first drum. Now I not only play, and hold monthly drum circles at my home in North Georgia, I also share my knowledge with the world through presentations at local schools and drum building workshops for groups such as The Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts.
I’ve expanded my knowledge to include many histories, myths, and construction processes, for all types of traditional instruments; ranging from djembe & frame drums, to flutes & ocarinas. I share this knowledge by facilitating ethnic instrument education presentations. The sounds and music these sacred objects create, with our help, have uplifted my soul beyond measure and created many smiles on multitudes of faces.
