A guided journey in drum building, history, and culture; experience building your own djembe!
The djembe building workshop will provide you with all the supplies and guidance necessary to build your own personal djembe drum. During the djembe building process, you will build your own drum, and I will teach you how to build, tune and take care of your drum.
We will be utilizing a Ghana or Ivory Coast djembe kit, which includes all the parts required to build a djembe.
Djembe Kit Includes:
- Djembe Shell
- High-Quality Drum Rope (color choices available)
- Properly Sized Steel Rings (made in the U.S.A.)
- Drum skin (without hair)

(Ivory Coast shell) includes all materials for Approx. 12.5″ X 24″ djembe drum. All other materials will be provided and are included in the price of the workshop.
Would you like some additional henna decoration to your head, please let me know, so I can prepare for that, and let you know the cost. Please pack a lunch, I will provide fruits/vegetables & tea or water for light snacks.
Used drum shells are available, prices range from $200-400. Work trade, barter, and other forms of payment can be discussed. We also allow bringing your own djembe tickets for $150, so you can repair a djembe you have already.

You can choose to place a non-refundable deposit for the event, or make a full payment, each depending on the kind of shell you would like to build.
